Mild ache or heaviness is common in the first days to weeks. A minority experience longer-lasting scrotal pain (often called post-vasectomy pain). In a large study referenced by guidelines, 14.7% reported new scrotal pain at 7 months and 0.9% described pain that significantly affected quality of life. Most improve with conservative care; persistent cases are uncommon and individualised treatments are available.
